Vendor Submissions Guidlines
We at King Ferry Winery receive many inquiries from outside vendors interested in participating in our events at the winery. We love having more attractions for our guests to enjoy especially, when they are highlighting a unique, locally made product. Some of the events that vendors may be interested in setting up for are: Friday Nights live music, “I Love Chocolate” Day, Harvest Festival , Local Arts Festival and two seasonal Open Houses. Also, as of 2012, we are the location for the King Ferry Farmer's Market. The Market has an additional application process & submission form – see bottom of page. Before filling out the submission form, please note all the required information listed below is standard for all events that are held on our premise, and please understand, there may be additional guidelines for specific events.
Requirements
1- We do not charge booth rental / space fees at this time.
2- We do not allow other forms of alcohol to be sold on the premise by other vendors.
3- For every event, we require that each vendor has a tent with weights to insure the tent doesn’t blow over in strong winds.
4- We require a Certificate of Insurance naming Peter & Tacie Saltonstall, (Owners of Winery) at 658 Lake Road, King Ferry, N.Y. 13081 as additionally insured. This can be provided in advance or the day of the event.
***If you have questions about this undersigned insurance or a Sample Crafter’s policy, contact your insurance representative or two that we know are familiar with them: Sally Hoyt, Tompkins Insurance (Triphammer Rd., Ithaca) 1-607-266-5490 or Chris Dempsey (Main St., Groton) 1-607-898-5134
Be sure to ask if a policy is “premises only”.
Guidelines for King Ferry Winery Events
Products should be made locally, and we at King Ferry Winery retain the right of invitation when considering the applications. We do not want to have vendors, who all sell similar products at any one event. Applications to each event will be reviewed and an invitation will be given to an allotted number of vendors.
Guidelines for King Ferry Farmer's Market at King Ferry Winery
The King Ferry Farmer's Market promotes local products by providing and maintaining a market outlet for local growers, artisans and food producers. To become a member or vendor of this Market, you must grow or make everything you sell.
Specific guidelines on product categories: Growers and food producers, (e.g.. of baked goods) must follow the regulations governing what they sell. All raw produce is eligible to be sold without special permits or requirements. Growers of nursery plants should read the relevant pages on the NY State Ag and Markets website (www.agmkt.state.ny.us). Home bakers, jam/jelly makers and candy and snack makers are covered under the "Home Exemption": please read http://www.agmkt.state.ny.us/FS/ consumer/processor.html. Appropriate state labeling requirements need to be observed.
Specific guidelines on "grow or make what you sell": This is not a market for resale produce, commercial products, pre-packaged mixes, catalog orders, raffles or flea market items. "Resale produce" is defined as the majority of one's stock purchased from a wholesale jobber. Produce sold for a fellow grower or picked locally by you to supplement home grown is not "resale". Likewise, imported handmade and fair-trade goods sold by a non-profit, though not "local" are both permitted. Arts and crafts are expected to be handmade; although, they may require purchased starting materials. "Handmade" can also cover re-purposed items; e.g. decorated second-hand clothing, products made from used clothing or fabric or one-of-a-kind items made from discards. Artisans must provide photograph(s) (preferred) or samples of their products in advance for review and approval.
Vendor applications submitted are voted upon by active King Ferry Winery Farmers Market vendors. Only items submitted for review will be allowed for sale. Any additional items added on in subsequent weeks must be voted on before selling.
