Simply Cookie at Treleaven
Food should be fun. For Susanne “Cookie” Wheeler, food is just that. Executive chef and owner of Custom Roots Catering, Cookie has recently joined the Treleaven family doing business as “Simply Cookie.” With over 40 years of experience, Cookie brings her passion to Treleaven and hopes to continue creating “comfort food with a twist” in the days to come.
At 14 years old, Cookie held her first job as a dishwasher at The Aurora Inn. From here, she quickly worked her way through the kitchen and front of house. Having held numerous positions in the hotel and restaurant, it was time to make a name for herself. Cookie’s official career began at The Sherwood Inn in Skaneateles, NY working under owner Bill Eberhardt. Along with The Sherwood Inn, Cookie held numerous positions at The Bluewater Grill, Patisserie, and Mackenzie Childs before being hired as the general manager and executive chef at Pumpkin Hill Bistro. Here, Cookie amassed a great following of loyal customers whom are thrilled to have her back “home.”
Cookie’s inspiration has always been her family. As a single mother of three, she has worked tremendously hard to maintain a tight-knit family life as well as a business. Custom Roots Catering was an idea born from the inspiration to create food that fosters nostalgic memories. Having been in the kitchen and working for others, Cookie now gets to bring her creative style with Custom Roots Catering to Treleaven Wines.
